Does anyone have the protocol for aligning the controller card on these external hard drives?
Anyone have any such drives or controller boards they would part with?

I have an exrternal 15Meg Hard drive for my Model IV that will occasionally act up. What I do to fix it is remove and reinsert all the socketed chips on the controller board. Almost always gets it going again. Just something you might want to try. Just watch out for ESD.

ooo, Im gonna keep you in mind. Been searching for a 15meg, or any meg for my model 4 and I am sure to need some help if and when I do.
Tell me you don't lose data when you do that.

My apologies to the OP, didn't mean to steal your thread.

I THINK I might have the alignment procedure still in some stuff I kept from Radio Shack, but you need the Tandy II/12/16/6K diagnostic disk as well (just happen to have that too).

I know I have a 5 MB external drive for the Tandy machines (if the OP is the Joel Howell (III) I'm thinking of, that always wanted daisey wheels), then he got most of my larger primary and secondary drives when I was selling on FeeBay.

I could put, pretty much, any MFM drive in the case though as long the the OS you're using allows for customizing (like LDOS, for instance).

I have a bunch of the controller cards and after aligning them, I might make up a couple of Model 4s with a DSDD and an internal 10 MB hard drive.

Yeah, jumped on it within hours of it going up. I actually have a 35mb system, it looks beat to hell, no cables, no key. Hoping if I find a good housing I can swap it in. No idea what shape the hd is in.
Had a line on a micropolis 1335, ended up getting sent some 40mb hh instead, dang.

Druid if you make any of those systems let me know, even the 5mb looks good right now! Really hope to get this 12mb, then all I will need is the cable(s).

Cable should be easy to make. Find an old SCSI 50 pin cable. Get a 50 Pin card edge and attach to other end. Works fine.

Yup, that's what I did, used an old SCSI 50 connector cable to test the sucker with.

The Model 4 with the internal hard drive is quite a ways down the road. The Legacy parts that my clients need have top priority, but, I might just wake up some day and do it. I have all the stuff I need to do it, just not the time to do it.

Dracos if you need a 50Pin Card edge I might be able to get you one if you can't find yourself. Actually I might build a cable for you for a small fee.

Yep, I'm the guy and still looking for courier 10 printwheels
I could really use that alignment procedure for the external hard
drives if you have it. I do have the diagnostic floppy
