Got home tonight and fired up my desktop. Went to log onto the 'net and lo and behold, nothing happened. It was at that point I took a gander at my cable modem and noticed there was no ready light! Checked to see if I still had cable TV, yep! Sounds like modem died. Called cable company to let them test the line just to make sure. Tech says line looks bad, so they'll need to send out a tech before ruling out that as the problem. Asked when the next available date was for the tech...25 June!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, if an opening comes up earlier, they'll call me and expect me to be there within half an hour. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Okay, whatever.

Grab brand new Dell laptop and head on down to the nearest of 3 Starbucks in puny little Burleson, TX. Flame on and life is good again. I'm flying and so is my laptop!

What's most annoying about all this is the fact I have been working all week on transitioning Navy Recruiting Stations over to NMCI! And, shocker, it hasn't been going smoothly! Oh well, 8 months, 14 days until I retire from the Canoe Club!

Oh no, not a good idea! I'm already wired tight enough to thread a sewing machine while it's running!

8 months, 13 days until retirement!

Well, don't have to make nightly trips to Starbucks for internet access anymore.

I just didn't trust the cable company's idea it was a bad line, so I picked up a new Linksys cable modem and plugged it in. Took a couple of times for the modem to be recognized by the ISP, but I'm back up and running.

Of course, I'll still make pilgrimages to Starbucks, but now it's not a necessity...or is it???
