Hi Everyone

The Compaq Portable III has a slimline canon 5.25" 1.2Mb floppy disk drive. I have one that doesn't work and I've checked several things and it still won't read a (tested) disks.

I've greased the corkscrew that drives the magnetic heads(s) backwards and forwards across the disk - it moves normally (runs fully forward and back when powered up)
I've cleaned the heads gently using a q-tip and some 100% IPA
I realised the spindle wasn't spinning the disk, and the drive doesn't have any belts so I thought it might be PCB related. I took the main PCB off and it has 5 electrolytic capacitors on it - 2 of them were leaking. I replaced all of them and replaced the board - the spindle now spins the disks.

However, still no reading the disk! Everything moves about as it should. Can anyone suggest anything else?

Thanks

RPM did seem slow, although I don't know how fast it should be. I'll google ImageDisk.... Thanks
