For sale is a vintage Compaq Armada 1571DM Laptop Computer. It's a great choice for running early 1990's Windows and DOS software, and connecting to old hardware, without taking up the space of a full desktop computer.
  • You can use it as pictured, with the included mouse on the side, for office-style applications that can handle the sluggish passive-matrix display.
  • Or, you can plug in an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor, for a multimedia PC experience.
I posted this laptop a few weeks ago on this forum without an OS. Since I didn't get any interest, I installed an OS on it that I purchased from a local system builder, for distribution with this system only.

Make me an offer, and include your ZIP code for estimating shipping costs and taxes.

Included in the laptop:
  • CD-ROM drive
  • 3 1/4" floppy disk drive
  • Internal speakers, sound port, and microphone port
  • Parallel port, Serial port, and PS/2 port
  • VGA port for your external monitor
  • Infrared port
  • USB port
  • 2 PC Card slots with Ethernet PC card installed
  • Modem port
  • Intel Pentium MMX 200 MHz processor
  • 96 MB of RAM (more than some other similar laptops on eBay)
  • 3 GB hard drive
  • Large, comfortable keyboard and touchpad
  • Windows Millennium Edition operating system installed.
  • Compaq Diagnostics and Setup partition installed. When you turn the computer on and see a white block flash in the top right corner of the screen, you can press F10 to run Diagnostics and Setup.
  • Passive matrix color LCD display with 800x600 resolution. It was a sluggish "budget" display even when it was new, but it works well. It's about 12 inches measured diagonally, not the 9 inches that shows up in the BIOS screen.
Shipped with the laptop:
  • Power cable.
  • Windows ME installation CD, CD key, and quick start guide.
  • Cherry M5400 USB optical mouse with scroll wheel and green USB to PS/2 port adapter.
  • 3 1/4" floppy disks for Compaq setup and diagnostics tools, plus the Compaq display driver. The disks shipped may be different than the ones pictured.
Not included:
  • This laptop doesn't come with a battery, as its battery is now exhausted. Omitting the heavy, dead battery saves shipping costs.
  • The Hover! video game displayed in the pictures is not included, although you can download it from many places online.
Laptop is sold AS IS, with no warranties express or implied to the maximum extent allowed by law. No returns accepted unless item arrives significantly not as described.
