Vintage Computer Festival comes to Chicago!

The fifth edition of VCF Midwest will take place in Chicago (OK, Lombard is a suburb) this fall - join us on September 18 in conjunction with ECCC as we once again coax vintage electrons into motion.

The show will run from 8:00 AM on Saturday on into the night, coming to an official close at 1:00 AM Sunday morning. Early setup will be available on Friday evening from 5-6:30 PM, at which time the exhibition area will be locked until the show opens on Saturday morning.

In addition to exhibitions of eclectic electronica, we will feature speakers, vendors and a Vince Briel workshop (come ready to homebrew!).

Admission is FREE to all whether you come to show, look, build, talk or sell.

Exhibitor and session info to follow shortly, but save the date NOW!

Join us!

I noticed that in the VCF South there was not much on the walls. I think posterage makes for a better exhibit hall and to that end, exhibitors need a place to hang their posters. What is the exhibit space like for VCF MW? Is there a wall to put a poster or what? How many confirmed exhibitors? I will follow up on the main facebook page, but I think that people who are going to this event (and the Commodore event that's also being run in the hotel) should chime in, let's get motivated.

There will be an Altair 8800micro workshop at the VCF Midwest 5.0. Come and build a Altair micro and have lots of fun in a relaxed classroom setting. There are only 10 spaces available so don't miss out. Price of the workshop is only the cost of the kit $199.95. There are going to be 2 options, first is where the front panel is already built and tested making the workshop run about 1-1.5 hours. The other is a full kit that the builder will assemble everything including the front panel. Anything on that option that can not be finished at the exhibit will require the builder to take home and finish.

More informatioin on the Altair 8800micro can be found here:

Hope to see you there.
