Hey,

Anybody got a link to some games, or programs that use VT100 text? I'm finishing up a hardware project and I would like more tests. I prefer just the .com or basic files that I can transfer over with xmodem.

Thanks for any leads,

Vince

As part of the Altair32 distribution, there is a BASIC program that "tests" the various VT100 modes that we built support for in the "console" code. I haven't looked at the code recently but I think we built in an almost complete VT100 emulation.

I don't think I have a copy with me but if you download the ZIP file, it should be there.

Hey Rich

I used that program when I was writing my firmware. I works great so it must be working.

If it's the terminal you're trying to test and not the host, you could try any of the various unix terminal games -- nethack, rogue, angband et. al.

I have an old archive of some USENIX games - by Peter S. Langston. Our system admin back in the 1980's compiled and installed some ASCII games for us to play during Summer; Grid, Convoy, Hack, Snake, Rogue - since the source was online we tried to compile them to MS-DOS, but no luck.

Playing Grid was fun - it was a multi-player ASCII maze game, much like Doom or Quake but without the textures.

Sadly, not all the source code was included and not all the games were installed :(
