So on the main page, if you scroll down all the way, it used to say something like: most people ever online: 359 may 26, 2007. But that has changed! now it reads: Most users ever online was 369, Yesterday at 09:44 PM. by the way, that was a direct copy. You guys may not find this at all significant, but I have been eying it for awhile, and it finally was broken. Ooh-Rah. :eek:ha:

Except for the fact that the majority of those "users" are spiders and other bots.

Pretty much, yeah. 2 swarms probably showed up at once. My guess would be Yahoo and MSN since they do that. GoogleBot usually only has 2 at a time, not like Yahoo's 2 thousand. Gigabot is cool though, only saw one of those show up at a time...

RUN! The Invasion of the Bots ---

Most users ever online was 106, Yesterday at 04:38 PM.

At this point there probably aren't as many bots as lurkers. Several articles mentioning this site and these boards, featuring images from my collection and, once in a while, quotes from yours truly have popped up on C|Net, Tech Republic, PC World and elsewhere.

Folks are finding their way over from those links, browsing the boards but not subscribing.

How can we convince them that joining our little community is the right thing to do?

It already appears to be working. The quality and diversity of information here, in place, should be enough to convince any vintage computer person to join up. I still insist that I am not a collector but I sure love playing with all the *vintage* stuff. You would be hard pressed to find more knowledge in one place, that doesn't come back with 1,368,487 hits to search through.
