Hello. I have two Epson P-40s model thermal printers and have no clue as to what they were used for exactly, or if they are still being used for anything. I do have the manual, but it doesn't answer my questions about the printer itself. If anyone had any information about this, it would be greatly appreciated!!

From what I can see they are parallel port receipt printers. They hook up to cash registers or anything that you want to print on that size paper. Google is your friend :)

You can do some cool things with receipt printers. They will to an extent support more than text.

Even with text you could do extraordinary things like print out a document that doesn't have any hard returns. Hehe

Seriously, you can also use these as a ticket printer for a small theatre, or a grocery list maker for home use. The 4" format is a little wide for some things but it would be a cool way to make some little books, perhaps laid out accordion style. The down side is that it is thermal which tends to fade in quite a short time. Putting the words "Epson P-40s" into Google does produce an amazing number of results so it must have been a popular model. The paper rolls are still available. Being distributed worldwide, this model is obviously neither gone, nor forgotten.
