Where would you recommend for a Hotmail/Outlook question?

I'm stumped with a verification impasse, and I thought the smart thing was to post on Microsoft's own "community" forum, that they'd know this kind of thing.

But nothing! Over 100 people read it but no one had an answer.

If you have the email address for the account and a Phone number for text message or email address
it's easy. Just did it as a test with Hotmail.com using Thunderbird.

There's no phone number. There's another alternative email account for verification.

So every few months, when I'm logging in, there's a pop-up asking me to re-confirm, again, the alternative email I gave them as a link. It's an annoyance, because the alternative is something I don't use, and it's a chore to track down the password or, worse, re-constitute the account.

Hotmail/Outlook gives you two choices for verification with the pop-up, something like:
- Looks good!
- No, I don't have that anymore.

In the past, when I click "Looks good!" seems to me that's always been the end. It doesn't ask further.

But now I'm stuck with something where I really can't access the linked account and I'm not sure what to do. I can either pretend that it's okay, hope it goes through, and then change the account it's linked to. Or I can truthfully say I don't have it any more ... but then I don't know what will happen, whether I'll lose access entirely, or just be offered the opportunity to use a different link.

I figured that the Microsoft forum would be a good place to ask but 100 people have read it, with no reply. Can you think of a better place to ask?

I think your sold down the river without an option. Had this with an account used by our local sports club. Could not get it unlocked.
Why didn't you update the recovery account when asked. If its not "in use" then how come you clicked "looks good".
