I'm looking for an external hard disk drive to use with an Otrona Attache 8:16, and I figure the IEEE-488 port would be the most likely candidate. Anyone have a drive they're looking to sell/trade? I'd like one of the supposedly sold original 10 MB external drives, but I've never seen one and have no idea if they even made it to market.

I have one of these (not for sale)...
...but maybe something for you to consider. Fairly common, I think. Combination hard disk and floppy, capacity varies a bit by sub model.

Just checked, there are at least 4 models of HP HP-IB/GPIB/IEE-488 disk drives on eBay right now.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've seen a few of varying HP models but all a bit too expensive for me to go in on when I'm not sure if they're compatible, since the manual on the Otrona GPIB port seems to be lost media. I'll keep a lookout for a cheap one that pops up

That's going to be a tough one. Even finding HP hard drives for the HPIB interface is pretty tough--and if what I recall about them, be prepared to part with some serious filthy lucre.

I'll have to check, but pretty sure I paid less than $100 for mine (but poor memory here) at a local surplus joint, and they had a few on the shelf. If you want to try one, I'll look them up and see what they might have.

Well Dallas is o n l y a 12 hour drive for me, so maybe thats the best time to pick one up :,) I do need to get a ridiculously large hard drive as some point. Though I think that might be overkill for a luggable system

I faced the same problem with my Commodores. I even got two CBM 9060's, both broken beyond repair. I sold one and the other I equiped with a thin client that mimics the 9060. A much smaller solution: the PetSD. If not usable, maybe the idea is good.

The PetSD looks like it would be a good portable solution for mass storage, thanks for the recommendation

Well I ended up getting a working HP 9133 for 135 shipped, figured I wasn't getting anywhere on the info front so I'd take the risk and see what happens
