Lisa OS + Office System rebuilt from source

If the interfaces are known for the spellchecker, you might be able to use the aspell library from Linux for a source of the spellchecker words; would still need to write something to interface the dictionary with the LisaWrite application.

SGI Octane V6 graphics card swap

The question I would have is, does the system boot up to multi-user status, such that you can ssh in over the network? If so, then the system other than the graphics card, is working. If not, then there might be an underlying issue to check.

    PDP-11 Job Posting (Ontario, Canada)

Clearly they have a lot of old, certified-by-regulators hardware that they want to reproduce or get out of needing to support by replacing the functionality in cycle-accurate new hardware. Neat job but not interested, given that I left Canada like 30 years ago and am glad...

    Sun Sparcstation Fibre Channel

I dimly remember that FreeBSD has the ability to serve as an iSCSI target and other things and had good support for QLogic; wondering if you put the QLogic card into a FreeBSD system if you could get farther.

Bad SUN 3/80 - advice needed?

You're in good shape, actually! I would suggest asking on the rescue@sunhelp.org mailing list - it might be SCSI termination which is easy to solve. Is there an NVRAM with embedded battery on the board?

DECwriter III - suggestions on buying one?

I was playing with one of these and liked working with it as a local-mode "typewriter" and like the simple solid construction of it. Seems you can still get ribbons for it? Anyone have any tips on getting one? Where is a good place to look?

    SPARC LT

I found that the 9.x running on an IPX was sluggish; they had switched to using PAM for login and logging in at the console was taking like 6-10 seconds; a performance regression they may have caught since, but which would not be in earlier versions.

    SPARC LT

https://archive.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD-archive/NetBSD-1.6.2/sparc/ doesn't seem to have it; but the INSTALL.txt mentions a sparccd.iso file, so it seems there was one at some point.

    SPARC LT

you could try to see if you could boot an earlier version of NetBSD, like 1.6.1 on it, just to see what is detected and what it does not see in terms of devices. The reason I say 1.6.1 is because that is a solid release (I am told) and it was during the time when SPARC 32bit was heavily used...

Electronika's BK, UKNC, 60 and DKV series thread

Very interested in this line, I keep meaning to buy one, but shipping to the USA is a bit high.

County/State Fair Fortune Telling Computer - Late 80s

Yes, I definitely was entranced by that also, which I saw at least once growing up in southern Ontario, Canada (not far from London, Ontario) ; I wouldn't be surprised to find out it was a bunch of 555 timers!
