This is as close as I can get with my phone. It looks like the chip was removed and resoldered floating around 1mm up and maybe one of the legs is bent so it doesn't touch the pad but it's hard to tell. I'll have to look at it with a microscope to see what's going on.
Check in the diagnostic boot if it's actually detecting a P4 framebuffer. The 13w3 connector should output an analog signal at 1152x900x66 with composite sync.
You do need bodge wires to upgrade the ROM on the 3/80. My board shipped with a 3.0.2 ROM and has lots of bodge wires. I tried the...
It's not that hard, I just bought a new monitor that can do it a few weeks ago. A ViewSonic VX2485. Works with my sparcstations, an sgi indy, a mac IIsi, and an amiga 2000. I don't have a nextstation to test it with but I doubt it would have problems with it. Haven't tested above 1280x1024 yet...
Hello all.
A few months back I got an ss10 on ebay because it had some interesting framebuffers in it (tech source GXTRA/1) and it turned out to have 2 working HDD with lots of software on it but that's another story. The machine other wises seemed like a rather generic early ss10 so I didn't...
RDI did make SPARC laptops but they were called PowerLite and BrightLite. RDI got bought out by Tadpole in 98 and from then on only the the Tadpole branding was used for SPARC laptops.
I guess the question is are you looking for something portable so you can take your SPARCbook to a coffee shop and use the public WiFi or do you just want to use the machine on the other side of your house and not have to run an Ethernet cable down the hall. Which solution is best kind of...
I don't think you need that guide. The machine will most likely work fine when you get it aside from a dead NVRAM. On the rare chance it does have a problem it will most likely be a major problem that that guide will not tell you how to fix. Sun hardware from the late 80s to the mid to late 90s...
The power connectors (plural) on the ultra 60 are completely different from the type of connector ATX uses. While you could make an adapter with enough effort I'm not sure if it's worth it. Also as pointed out above the CPUs are designed to be cooled by the air duct built into the case. The CPUs...
You can use the command volcheck to look for new media but IDK if it works on cdrom. Does PiSCSI not send the media changed message when you change the file?
