Floppy A is found but won't read disk.

Welcome to the forum @Jentralith . Check to make sure that your floppy cable is in good condition. Remember to have the A drive on the last connector, after the twist, like what is shown here: https://retrocmp.de/fdd/general/floppy-cable.htm Also you can check the jumper settings on your...

    Kicking around a Tava PC

I had not connected your handle with the comm program. I used qmodem, myself, on my IBM 5155 and 5150, many years ago. It was a great program. Thanks very much for creating it! - Alex

    Mid Atlantic Compaq Portable 486c

I have a 486C that I got in perfect condition, with a dead LCD. There's a well-documented process for replacing the LCD with a modern model. - Alex

    Reorganization of 'Genres' Category

Unfortunately, folks, we have a constant stream of spammers, and the load is decently heavy on the mods, even with the current restrictions. We also have folks who join the forums with the intent to conduct scams, and the 10-post minimum makes that more work. - Alex

    Pocket 386

I think a 386 motherboard based on this chipset would be very interesting. Especially with integrated IDE and full FM/MFM single and double sided floppy controller onboard. - Alex

New 8-bit ISA SCSI Card - ASPI driver needed

Nice work! It's great to see storage cards like this being cloned. I'm not familiar with this manufacturer, at all, unfortunately. I know, and used, many other SCSI vendors' products, but not this one. - Alex

Midwest IBM Model 5155 "suitcase" Portable XT

I still like the lunchbox form factor. Portable enough, but with a good keyboard and room for expansion. The military still uses a lot of modern lunchbox systems. - Alex

    Pocket 386

For those looking for a different form factor, have you considered taking the PCBs out of a Hand386 or Pocket386 and re-homing them? It’d be a seriously easy job, to knock up a new chassis, if you want an SFF PC, and the original ports are already available, including ISA, serial, parallel, PS/2...

    Reorganization of 'Genres' Category

Agreed and done. The last G5 will be 20 years old next year, so I think that’s quite fitting, as well. I always leave it up to folks as to what “vintage” is, as opinions are so varied. My thought is that “vintage” is whatever people are nostalgic about, with no particular date cut-off. If folks...

Midwest IBM Model 5155 "suitcase" Portable XT

I fixed the title of the thread. Good luck, I love the 5155. And, people definitely called it a “suitcase” or luggable, back when it was new. Remember that stereotypical 1970s hard-sided luggage? The 5155 is very close to that size, albeit a bit heavier. - Alex

    Reorganization of 'Genres' Category

Sorry, I can't do anything about the CSS. @VeryVon , any thoughts? I did another re-org, which separates 'Genres' and 'Companies'. I also created some subforums. Please let me know if others would be useful. FYI, organization, or the lack thereof, is not an indication of preference, as anyone...
