Just bought a 2.5 inch PATA SSD for my Thinkpad 770. I wonder if it will work:

After tooling around on an old Thinkpad 770 I got from a coworker I found a ton of bad sectors on the HDD. I figured I'd try a cheap 16 GB SSD ($35 shipped) from ebay...

Any recommendations for an inexpensive VGA video capture device?

Right now if I want to capture anything like that I fire up DOSBOX on my Macbook and record the screen with quicktime. I'd like to make some videos from my old computers. I really don't need anything more than 1024x768 resolution, and I'd like a VGA connector rather than HDMI or DVI. Audio...

Is it possible to connect a CF card to a sound card CD ROM interface?

So I got this random idea. I have a ISA 16-bit sound card with a CD-ROM interface. Does this work like a regular IDE control, or as a fixed to the size of a CD-ROM IDE Control? Could I not use it for a CF Card? My PS/2 doesn't have onboard IDE control and 500+ MB would be more than enough...

IDE interface / HDD for my PS/2 model 25-286

I want to put the original proprietary IBM 20MB HDD back into the PS/2 it came in originally instead of having it in my 25/286. I'm looking for a functional hard drive and IDE interface for my PS2. I'd like an IDE card that has a power cable for the hard drive. I'm not picky about the size...

Has anyone ran a PS/2 model 25 without local disks over a network?

None of the computers in my labs in high school (94-97) had no hard drives. they ran DOS over a network somehow, with multiple mapped network drives. I'd like to figure out how to do this, has anyone else setup a PS/2 to boot over a network? two of the old IBM network cards.

    Scored a pentium 150!

So I bought a set of PC's from craigslist cheap. The older one was what I was interested in. Based on the case I was hoping for something a bit older, but I do want to build a final generation DOS machine and this will fill the bill: The original owner unfortunately (but understandably)...

Compact flash HDD on a PS/2 model 25-286?

I'm assuming I just need an ISA HD controller, a CF card, and one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/291008485015?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Anything else special that I'm going to need? I'm assuming I'll only be able to use CF cards as HDD's up to a certain...

A really fast 286 mod from 1988: The Mysterious "Chang" modification:

Attempting to use an external U.S. Robotics 5686 V.92 Modem with DOS. PS/2 model 25

I figured I could circumvent the requirements because I was using DOS and required no drivers. From what I could figure out some later modems don't work without a plug and play OS? Guess I'll just get an older modem.

I got a US Robotics external 56K modem from the thrift store today and I'm itching for some BBS action. What terminal software would work well on my PS/2 8086? I used either HyperTerm or Commit back in the day and I'm not sure what the best option would be for now? Suggestions?

The "All Night Fighter" PS/2 model 25 coffee cup!

Found one of the aforementioned cups on Ebay, Snagged a screen capture. Don't think I can cop the $50 for it though: I'm assuming the message was about fighting your term papers or something? I doubt they meant it as a fighting game machine? Link to the auction (if you are a baller)...

Was the PS/2 model 30 external MCGA display compatible with VGA?

If you have a model 30 and you upgrade the graphics adapter to VGA (ISA), will the original MCGA display still work? I'm trying to figure out if my integrated color MCGA display in my model 25 will work if I use a VGA ISA card. Another member did a VGA conversion on his model 25 PS2 a few years...
