30 pin SIMM memory for RC2014 z80 Processor

I've pondered if a small SRAM disk might help with that, making it accessible as an IO device rather than a memory. This way this scratchpad memory can be used while running code from any of the pages within a 32MB space.

30 pin SIMM memory for RC2014 z80 Processor

I am using this project as inspiration, the author does a great job explaining why linear addressing is superior to bank-switching small slices of memory. https://laughtonelectronics.com/Arcana/KimKlone/Kimklone_short_summary.html

30 pin SIMM memory for RC2014 z80 Processor

Hi Everybody, So as the title states I'm interested in rigging up some vintage 30-pin SIMM modules up to a z80, My initial thoughts are to use some programable logic as glue to the z80. Where the contents of the R and I registers are latched into the PLA and used to select between low/high...

How does one interface to 30 pin SIMM memory?

You would need to identify the locations of all the required signals, RAS, CAS ETC Al. From that point, the connections between the SIMM and the motherboard could be made. additional supporting logic may likely be required.

How does one interface to 30 pin SIMM memory?

with the 16MB modules, how much of the address space do I need to touch to refresh the entire module?

How does one interface to 30 pin SIMM memory?

OK but how do I make sure there is no data bus contention when wiring several modules up to the processor?

How does one interface to 30 pin SIMM memory?

I'm interested in learning how to interface 30-pin SIMM memory for a project, are there some example circuits that show how several modules can be connected to a system?
