hey all, in need of one of these to replace the 4GB QIC drive in my AS400, hoping to spend less than the $175 asking price on epay. thank you!
 
Ouch--not that common (LVD is the usual nowadays). I was about to suggest an LTO drive as being another possibility with better reliability than a QIC drive (I hate working with QIC). The SCSI command interface for tape drives of any stripe is pretty much the same. Of course, if you already have a pile of MLR3 cartridges, then it makes sense to stick with QIC.
 
LTO and DDS are not an option on this machine, the AS/400 won't speak to unsupported drives. would be ideal because both are easier to source than QIC but i've tried and it just will not work
