I got a broken older model 2600 4-switch model, and noticed a few interesting differences from other 4sw models.

The bottom half of the case seems to be made from noticeably thicker plastic than my other 4sw's. Also, there are port openings in the center of the rear covered by a plastic sheet. That tells me that Atari was thinking about moving the ports back there, then decided against it for some reason, probably financial.

Another note on the case is that when I opened her up, the top half had the curvature on the woody panel for something more like a heavy sixer, with the curved front bottom half.

The last thing I noticed is that the Fuji logo on my newer 4sw is right in the corner, and this older model has a little more than an inch from the "siderail."

These are interesting differences, and haven't even compared the circuit boards yet.

If anyone here has several slightly different built models, check them out, it's a neat way to kill an afternoon just seeing the differences and pondering.
