8-bit I/O card

I am looking at getting this for my XT: http://store.ramplus.com/gcadmuiococa.html

Does that look like a good deal to ya'll?

I was thinking that with this and a newish DOS that I could have a 1.2 and a 1.44 drive in my XT clone. Am I right?

It will work, but you'll need a device-driver to be able to use HD disks since there aren't any BOOT ROM on the card. I don't know the name of the driver you need, but there is problably many different ones that'll do just the same.

The price is ok, I have a similar card and 1.44 meg floppy drive works perfectly on my XT under dos, I'm using PC Dos 7.0.

Excellent! Finally getting close to a working system.

When I actually owned an IBM XT in the real era, the controller card was 360k and when I bought my first 720k 3 1/2 floppy "which was a big deal back then if you can imagine it" I had to use driveparm to access the drive properly....
