I'm not that much of an endorsement guy, but on occasion, I will tout a product that works for me and I like it when others do the same. I had been thinking about getting a small monitor that I could use in a number of places. For example, I read this thread with interest. In the end, however, I did not want to deal with a very small screen and I got this unit.
https://www.amazon.com/Feihe-Kitchen-Antenna-Control-Camping/dp/B0CP5ZT6Z2 14" is about right for me as the smallest screen that I am comfortable viewing.
So far, I am happy. The LED screen looks better than I thought it would. You can read the advert to get the details.
Here it is from my XT clone using a CGA going to an RGBtoHDMI board and into the TV HDMI input..
It has a VGA input but I could only test it using an HDMI to VGA adapter. Looks ok, not quite as good as the HDMI but, again, I don't have a legitimate VGA output to test.
It takes NTSC (from my pong game) on the AV inputs with no problem.
I have to admit that a buying point was the over the air (active) antenna. To me, over-the-air TV meant pre-cable broadcasts that I grew up with and I confess that I have never had digital over-the-air TV. I was impressed by the number of channels it could pull - not sure how stable the reception is, but watching it for 10 min. or so, the performance was fine. I figure this added $10-15 to the price. I see no reason why I can't use the antenna elsewhere.
It has 4:3 / 16:9 and a couple of zoom settings. Stereo audio (not sure I tested that out). A freeze button and a lot more. I like that I can do everything from buttons on the set and don't have to use the remote. I like that it has a 12V PS and car adapter (not sure how much TV I would watch while driving and camping trips are infrequent, but I still like the idea).
The stand is cheap.
At $99, I am impressed.
