A3000D on the way

Those bridgeboards hate any machine using higher than an '020 with caches enabled. I suggest you disable the caches if you wish to use an XT board, the 386sx boards will be OK with caches on.

Well, here's an update on my progress.

Got a 1G hard drive in and installed it. Booted WB 2.04 and ran the install procedure and had absolutely no problems installing to the hard drive.

Got the A2386SX bridgeboard in. Set the jumpers for Amiga drives and dropped it into the 3000. Plugged in all the floppy cables, checked it twice for polarity. All good.

Turned the computer on and hard drive booted fine, but when I tried to access the floppy drive, it is not recognized.

Bypassed the bridgeboard cabling and it comes back!

Any suggestions?

More news.

Decided to utilize dedicated floppy drives for the DOS side and keep the Amiga drive separate. Everything is working fine now.

Set up 20 Mb of the hard drive as a virtual hard drive and booted up and installed MS-DOS 5.0. No problems at all.

Now to get a keyboard and mouse to USB adapter so I can use my KVM.

What? Good luck finding Amiga keyboard/mouse to USB adapters. I don't think they even exist. There are Amiga mouse to PS/2 adapters (I have one), but they're hard to find. The only other thing you could do is get a Deneb USB card which gives USB 2.0 ports. They're still available new, but they're expensive. (around $160)

Actually, I have a lead on both. The Lyra adapter works for the keyboard and the Cocolino adapter for the mouse. Now I have to decide if I want to drop a total of $80 for the pair.

Oh yeah. I forgot that you could convert to PS/2 then use those common PS/2 to USB adapters. I thought you meant convert directly from Amiga to USB.

I remember seeing an advertisement for a Cocolino Amiga mouse to USB adapter, but the project was cancelled and it was never released for sale.

Didn't they have some firmware fixes for the bridgeboards for faster CPUs/ later versions of Kickstart? Seems like they did.
