You want 3 batteries, not 4... 6v is way too much for a RTC. As far as connectors, just use some breadboard wires.

EDIT, guess you can use 4 if they were somewhat dead since be 4.8v.

New akalines are 1.7v, so 1.7x4 = 6.8v

to quote that page "

"I suggest that you 'play safe' and do not use a battery that measures over 7 volts.".

I always used 3 batteries to not exceed the rated specs. 3 is more then enuf voltage. I dunno to each their own. :) Just pulled out my XT 286 with the 3 AAA holder, and still had retained settings from almost 3 years ago.
