I have a tower system with the Alaris Cougar 486BL motherboard. Quite like it except that sometimes it stops accepting keystrokes and makes beeps suggesting that the keyboard buffer has filled up. I have removed keyboard adapter and KVM switch and changed keyboards. What else should I check?

It could be a memory problem, reseat all socketed chips.
Look at the keyboard port for foreign objects.
Look at traces on MB, maybe something is under MB shorting?

Check and see if the barrel battery on the board is leaking. Those things often leak and trash traces.... >_<

I checked everything I could. The keyboard port seems solid. Motherboard traces are intact. Battery hadn't leaked. It is only an intermittent problem so I will keep watching it and hoping to find some pattern.
