Does anyone do this? I have several that are iffy, and I'd like to get a clean bill of health from someone that knows what they're doing.

Should this query go in the wanted section?

Thanks,
Kelly

Well, I have the diagnostic disk to align all the II/12/16/16B drives, but, I don't know if I have one of 8" spiral disks that would be needed.

If memory serves me correctly, they were awfully damn expensive.

I've got nothing in the way of digital alignment software for an 8 incher though.

Kelly, what system are you trying to do this for? Druid, could you explain how that works? I'd love to be able to do that one some of my TRS 8" drives specifically for my 16 and 12. I just have some cleaning disks but I wasn't aware of an alignment program/disk.

These would be model II, 12, 16, 16b and 6000 by Tandy.

I have the software here somewhere, and I have the tech ref for the II and the 6000.

I see 2 of the alignment disks on EBay right now, but I'm outta cash.

There is also a disk controller box on ebay so you don't need a
working program. You just need a power supply to drive the disk
drive and 5V for the control box.
I have one of these that I use to check out drives but I've not
aquired an alignment disk yet :(

Well, the nice thing about the program disk is that it tells you where to connect the test probes and what to set the scope at while making the adjustments.

I imagine that, someday, if I have to align any of the 8 inch disks I have, I'll break down and get an alignment disk.
