After spending far too much time lurking around the forums, snagging diagrams and reading up on whatever random piece of junk has arrived, I finally made an account. Been messing with old junk all my life and always had a great time of it and even work in electronics recycling here near OKC. Nowadays, I spend more time stacking and sorting vintage machines than doing much work on them. Figured I would poke my head out there and turn the vintage piles into a tech equivalent of an animal shelter. Mostly messed with IBM and the clones, as stuff like Commodores are surprisingly uncommon in this part of the country. Done lots of repair work on all sorts of old vintage crap. Where I work, we try not to break down things of any historical interest, so we have quite the rotating collection of junk. I think the oldest gear we have dates back to 1913 with some original Bell test gear, all the way up to stuff made a few months ago. Crazy the things we get in on a daily basis, so will probably be at least weekly junk pile update pics.

Fun thing about the job is, we get quite a few interesting folks coming to dig through the pile. The drop-off can be just as fun. Got a huge load of ancient Air Force stuff and ended up with lots of 286-486 laptops and even a ton of IBM Model M's that are still packed in bubblewrap from when they were first moved into storage. Even gotten to handle prototypes of supercomputers, satellite parts and lots of random aviation stuff. As for vintage PC gear, we tend to make a point to find homes for stuff around the Pentium 3 era and back. Though, 'vintage' is definitely a term that varies person to person. Stuff like Core2Duo machines even have their fans (Good on them, can get a pallet of those for $50).

Anyways, looking forwards to doing a bit more than lurking around!

Thanks! Already figured out a system I was working on browsing the forum. Had a KLH195 come in earlier today and managed to find the cylinders/head count for the drive to get it running. Spent more time than I want to admit playing Scorched Earth 1.1 on it. =D

Welcome to the forums. That's the type of place I miss having nearby, as it's fun to look thru those piles.
