Another “ computer great “ gone – Doug Englebart inventor of mouse, etc. !

Have not seen it posted here so wanted to let you know so you can do a Google search on his most incredible career !

Saw it on AOL today.

He was 88 & it was kidney failure – Tuesday 07/02/2013.

At least a billion sold since mid 1980’s. But he could not collect any royalties since he discovered it “ too early “ before it became so popular !

It greatly simplified computing in so many ways.

Of course today “ touch screens “ are very popular.

He stressed “ collaboration “ & downplayed his part in so much in computing.

He got the National Medal of Technology for creating the foundation of personal computing !

His last name was 'Engelbart', not 'Englebart'..

Anyone who hasn't yet watched (the retrospectively named) 'Mother of all demos' video should. It's on youtube. It has everything really.. some of it we don't have yet. And he had it set up and working at the end of the sixties. The mouse was just a small piece of what he came up with.
