i know previous tests have all locked up eventually, but last night i tried running the IRCDLITE software i've been working on under a QEMU DOS environment and it went past 24 hours then i shut it off.

that had me thinking what is different about QEMU.... all i can think of is that it's emulated network interface receives ONLY packets meant for it due to the host OS's filtering. this has me thinking that disabling promiscuous mode of the packet driver on real hardware should be able to achieve the same effect.

so, that's what i did and the server is up now. i'd love for you guys to drop in and check it out if you have time! let's see if it crashes now.

IRC to irc.rubbermallet.org port 6667. we're all in #wtfpwnt

don't forget to go test out mike brutman's TCP/IP stack too!! click on his thread.

note: i still need to put a WHO command response in the server, so some clients like xchat may not automatically get a list of users in a channel, if thats the case then just type:

/names #wtfpwnt

and you should see us
