There is a person on craigslist in that area that has a bunch of Gateway 2000's P5-60, 75's, and 90's the nice older style desktop cases. I was hoping someone here could save them before he melts them down. I'm going to try and get at least one of them shipped to me depending on cost. He only wants $10 for each one. If you guys need the details I can put you in touch with him. I would rather see these go to a good home than see them get destroyed.

If there's interest in them, I'm not above going and collecting them, and shipping them out to interested parties who would pay the shipping (US/Canada only tho). Might try to negotiate a "volume buy" from the seller. I can sit on them for a while if that's needed and do basic testing.

Edit: looks like it'd be about 175 miles one way from me, give or take. Not sure if I'd want to make that trip unless there is interest in these things. It also appears that you (thread starter) have more info than what is in the actual listing.

I would rather see them go to enthusiast than get melted down. Just hoping someone would pick them up and use them instead of melting them down. I don't care what anyone does with them as long as its not going for scrap!

The seller has already agreed to mail me one so no need to do that.

I used to have to support a few hundred (well at one point somewhere close to 800) of these and the probably newer model. Are these the true desktop design or the towers that you could technically put on their side? I wasn't a huge fan but they did survive the years relatively well. The interesting part with the towers (I think these probably aren't the same and are the older/shorter desktop version) were the 3 5.25" bay design was completely square so you could put your tower on it's side and unscrew/rotate the 5.25 bay compartment and have a function desktop without having to do the CD balancing trick. It was sort of when the desktop phase was still more popular than the tower and many folks wanted a desktop to put their monitor on and save space. Anyone remember those days? j/k
