Hi, I need help in order to get my Apple2e-Card in my LC-475 using Apple2-Software.

What I have done so far:
- Installing the Apple2-Card including the external 5,25" Floppy and the joystick
- Installing the essentiel driver-software on the Harddisk
- Installing a 10MB Prodos-Partition on the harddisk

The Apple2e Card is working. I got a ProDos and Dos3.3 5,25" Floppy from a friend and can boot from it.
It also works if I put the installed ProDos-Container on the ProDos-Partition and the double-click on it.

What does not work:
I cant get any Software either on Floppy-Disks or on the ProDos-Partition.
All apple2-Software comes as DSK-Diskimages and I can't find a way to "install" the software.

I do not have an ADTpro cable.

What I have is:
- Lots of DSK-Images on a NAS
- AppleTalk connection from the LC475 to a Quadra700. The Quadra has ethernet and can connect to the NAS.

How do I manage to get Software from the DSK-Images to real disks or in a folder on the ProDos-Partition?

Thx

I'm not sure there is any way to do what you are trying to do...but I also know almost nothing about ProDOS hard disks and working with files, etc. You're probably going to need to get the DSK images transferred to real 5.25" floppy disks and boot from them...

Do you have the ProDOS FST installed on the MAC? If so, you can copy the disk images to your ProDOS volume and write them from inside the Apple IIe, using DiskMaker8, an 8 bit disk imaging utility for the Apple II. http://www.markpercival.net/DM8/

Download the DM8 Shrinkit archive, extract on the Mac and copy the files to the ProDOS volume, and you should be able to run it.

Also, if you have access to a PC with a 1.44mb floppy drive, you can make ProDOS formatted floppies using CiderPress and copy the .dsk images to a 1.44mb ProDOS floppy as files, then use DiskMaker8 on the Apple IIe to write them. Your LC 475 should be able to read ProDOS formatted 1.44mb floppies from the PC (or .dsk images from DOS formatted floppies, for that matter.)

That's interesting! THX!

I have downloaded some DSK-Files to my NAS. I copied them to the ProDos-Partition of my LC475.
Diskmaker8 could not load these DSK-Images. I got an ADTpro-Kabel and that worked.

But why does Diskmaker8 do not load the DSK-Files copied directly to the ProDos-Partition.

The file type might not be set properly, they need to be BIN file type to work with Diskmaker8.

So I will have to convert DSK-Images to BIN-Files? I thought Diskmaker8 could do a recreation of an a real floppy with a plain Disk-Image (DSK).
Btw. I have no clue how to convert the DSK to BIN or how to change the filetype of the DSK-Image to BIN.

Thx

The 2e card and software knows nothing about emulator DSK images. You can't get here from there. You'll have to pretend it's a regular stand alone Apple IIe and use ADTpro.

No, they're still .DSK files, the ProDOS file type needs to be set to BIN, as a binary file.

The problem is that they're probably set to $00, UNK, or unknown, and Diskmaker doesn't know what to do with them.

Not true. Running Diskmaker 8 on the IIe should allow it to write .DSK images, as long as you get the image file copied onto a ProDOS volume correctly, with the correct file type.

There are utilities for ProDOS to change file types, so it should be possible... I've done it using 1.44mb ProDOS formatted floppies on my PC, using a utility called "Fish Lips"? if I recall correctly, to fix the file types after copying the .DSK image to a ProDOS formatted floppy. I then used a Superdrive card and 1.44mb floppy drive to read the floppies on a real //e, running Diskmaker 8 to copy the images to 5.25" floppies. So it can be done....

DSK-Images have to fork afaik. so the only thin is changing the filetype so that the DSK-Images is a "real" DSK-Image and not "plain Text"
What is the ProDos-Command for changing the filetype of the file?
