I noted that Electronics Goldmine has a shipment of these 32KB 45 nsec SRAMs. Are these of use to anyone looking for cache SRAM for their 386/486 boards? Just wondering...

With 45ns? No. You normally need 25 or 20ns and the one for tag should be another 5ns faster.

In theory that should be good for 20mhz right?

Kind of an odd speed grade, unless it really overclocks many FPMs can cycle that fast (after the initial read on burst)

In my parts drawer have a few Cypress 35ns ones like this I got somewhere. They might not be fast enough for cache RAM, but they're fantastic for 8-bit breadboard/homebrew projects. I used one of them plus a 74LS04 to turn my 16K TRS-80 into a 48K one. $5 doesn't seem like that great of a price, though, considering Digikey has a 25ns Renesas equivalent for $4.14. (With the warning that it's an obsolete part limited to stock on hand. The 15ns one which claims to be an ongoing concern is $7.41.)

(*) I checked, I guess I got them from Jameco. Currently $3.95.
