With ST mice becoming scarcer, here's a PS2 mod one can do. Apparently it can also be used for Amigas by switching a few wires. He also has a mod for PC serial mice.

Quadrature mice were used on many systems it seems. I was just told the pinout on my BBC Master Compact, which unfortunately is quite different from both the Amiga and Atari ST, despite all use a DB9 connector. It is possible to fix with a home-made adaptor though.
