hey all! does anyone know if schematics for the BA11-VA exist anywhere? i am looking on bitsavers and do not see anything. i am hoping to design and produce a modern five slot version of this chassis since it is so hard to find, and i would really like a single user RSX11 box that i can run on my desk- the BA23 is not exactly small :)

if anyone has detailed photos of the chassis i would also be happy to have those as well.

thank you in advance!

I think the scheme should be more or less standard. I have a similar backplane with guides, but most likely not made by DEC. And I don’t remember exactly whether the address lines 21-16 are routed, but at least the LSI-11 assembled on it worked without problems.

Alas, no schematics or technical documentation here :-<. PM sent with some photos that I've accumulated. How do you propose to build a suitable backplane and then card cage for five slots? What's your target module configuration? Storage plan? There was this thread a few years back that included some photos:

thank you, much appreciated! i don't have any detailed plans at the moment since i just had the idea the other day, but this will all be custom, the backplane and case. the idea is that five slots would be enough for a base system (CPU, RAM, mux) with a couple extra bonus slots for network, disk, etc. in my case i would be targeting dave's MFM emulator for storage.

The backplane is described in Digital_Microcomputer_Products_Handbook_1985.pdf. Drawing a blank on the power supply. Any part numbers on the circuit board?

I didn't find much.

BA11-V IPB (illustrated parts breakdown) attached here as microfiche viewer cell phone screenshots.

I also found schematics of the 54-13343 power supply module, but there are multiple revisions totaling about two dozen microfiche frames.

Not gonna post all those here, but if anybody wants that detail, let me know.

Dale

I have one of these little boxes and it is great, except if you want to go beyond an 11/02 the PSU might not be enough.
The maximum DC power including auxiliary input is +5 VDC @ 5.6 A and +12 VDC @ 1.6 A.

very useful, thank you!

i am not planning to run a period power supply, i will end up using one (or maybe two) flex ATX units since they're quite small and i'd like to leave room in that area of the chassis for mounting an MFM emulator
