Blinkenlights - Connection Machine (CM-2)

Oh yeah - if I ever had a Tony Stark/Bond villain lair, it would need to have a CM-2 in it.

I could _maybe_ settle for a CM-5, but the cube really does it for me :)

The CM-5 was more monolithic but be damned if that video does not prove the CM-2 did not have a bad side. It's amazingly symmetrical.

There was a CM-2 located at NCAR from September 1988 to April 1993, it was the visually most interesting system in the machine room in an era where the "blinkenlights" were fast disappearing from systems. Of course it was placed in front of the viewing window for visitors. If you get a hold of a copy of Danny Hillis' PhD dissertation that lead to the Connection Machines, it is a joy to read, easily understandable.
