I have a BP Microsystems EP-1 eprom programmer on the way, as I have a specifc need to read and program 8042 and 8742 chips. The manual for the EP-1 says that it will program these chips using adapter "HEAD-1A"

Does anyone know that the pinout of this connector is? I have the parts needed to make one (40-pin ZIF socket etc) I just need the pinout.

Thanks!

I also have a BP Microsystems EP1 Eprom Programmer, and if you locate information on
either Head, I'd like a copy.

In looking over the Intel_8042.PDF file it details what needs to happen to program the
UPI-C42 Micro-controller on page 9.

These Pins are involved:
Code:
  Pin Number Function
  XTAL2 3 Check Input
/RESET 4 Initialization and Address Latching
Test 0 1 Selection of Program or Verify Mode
EA 7 Activation of Program/Verify Signature
                                  Row/Security Bit Modes
BUS 12-19 Address and Data Input
                                  Data Output During Verify
  P20-23 21-24 Address input
  Vdd 26 Programming Power Supply
  PROG 25 Program Pulse Input

  Vcc 40 5 VDC

I'm not exactly sure how these Pins are associated with the EP-1, without the Adapter Head
to double check how it worked.

These must be pretty rare. I’ve got a search at eBay looking for anything BP microcosystems, hoping to find one.

I ended up buying an EP-1140 instead.
