Broken Amstrad PPC LCD hinges

Okay, so I bought a bottle of acetone (for $8 D: ) and gave it a try but found two things:
1 - it exaporates quickly
2 - I don't know how to apply it

I already tried putting some on the broken aprt and pressing it into the place it needs to go until it was kinda holding itself in place but after the acetone evaporated it was still very weak. Id did do something but it just didn't want to fuse together. Did I just do it wrong or something?

I managed to et one side to bond back together but the other side didn't want to behave so drastic measures were taken.

Not pretty but you can't see it when the LCD is installed back on the system.
I also got it up and running DOS 3.3 now and am jsut waiting on some batteries to cycle so I can lug it around. I also really need to look into seeing how hard it would be to put an ISA slot in the area where the modem usually goes. I'm quite sure though I have enough room for an 8-bit ISA card.

If it works, fine!

If I had been reduced to doing this, I would have cut the brace out of steel, and then drilled and tapped it for flat-head machine screws. Between the brace and the plastic, I would have used some polyurethane glue.

But that's me...
