Cbm 2001 Pet strange boot

Now i'll have to go out...can i resume this job tonight or tomorrow!
Thanks!!

I suspect you still have a faulty kernal ROM in socket UD9 though. It’s checksum doesn’t match. But not to worry.

Can you check (with your trusty logic probe) what you observe on pins 1 and 19 of both E7 and E8 (74LS244 video RAM buffers) please.

All four pins should be pulsing away.

Dave

For now only D$ and F$ rom not corresponding with pettester documentation :(

That can’t be right...

Can you post a photograph of the screen that you have up please.

Note that there may be times of inactivity, followed by a burst of activity on these pins.

Dave

yes i have always High signal....with this screen

That is the WRONG version of the PETTESTER ROM.

This is the ‘hacked’ version I did for you to skip the initial video RAM test...

Dave

Yes, we want to diagnose why the first test screen didn't work and fix that hardware problem next...

We can only do this with the 'normal' PETTESTER ROM.

Dave

Ok thanks! Original pettester v4 must bè always insert on ud9 socket right?

Hang on, isn't UD8 the EDIT ROM (PETTESTER) and UD9 the Kernel ROM???

EDIT: Yes, I just checked the schematics.

Hi Dave....im confused now... must i insert 2532 pettester eprom on ud9 or 2716 pettester eprom on Ud8?
For now, i have hacked version of Pettester inserted on ud9 (4k eprom)...
Thanks!

Ah, have you got Nivag's image in? If so, this is the formal version of PETTESTER but designed for use at $Fxxx (Kernal ROM socket = UD9 = 4K) rather than my $Exxx (Edit ROM socket = UD8 = 2K).

Let me go back over the thread posts to see which test failed and what PETTESTER it was using...
