The thread about cell phones made me think of this...
Several years ago whilst working on my Jeep, I laid my cell phone on the fender. When I got done, I went in the house and cleaned up. Needed gas for my lawnmower, so I hopped in the Jeep and off I went. Later that day, needed my phone but couldn't find it anywhere. Then it hit me where I had left it. Looked in the driveway, carport, and a short way down the road but still didn't find it. So, I went off to the nearest pay phone to call the carrier and have the service suspended. Really needed a phone (IRS still did TeleFile and it was April 15) so I then went to the nearest Alltel to get a new phone. On the way past my house (I live on a divided US highway [dual carriageway?]) spotted my phone laying in the median where I had made the crossover earlier. The battery was going bad on that phone anyway, so I went on and got the new phone. When I returned home, walked across the highway and picked up my old phone. It was still on, and the leather case kept it from getting scratched.
The "new" phone is a basic LG flip, no camera, no media player, just a phone.
