Commodore 8050 Floppy Drive - Stepper Motor / Head stuck?

Is the drive head moving? On mine, I had to carefully work it back and forth with my fingers until it broke free and started moving. If the drive head is moving and trying to read, I would suggest cleaning the heads really good with q-tip and alcohol. After that I replaced the drive belt as mine was quite old and brittle.

If the drive band is broken (fractured) that would actually be a tricky repair. The reason being that the band, like many things "springy metal material" is special metallurgy, of a specific modulus of elasticity and geometric proportions. You cannot buy this material from your local hardware store. The only hope you have of replacing such a part, is from a donor drive unit of the same model.

Buongiorno, sono nuovo , e vi chiedo scusa se scrivo in italiano, sto lavorando anche io ad un 8050 e avevo lo stesso problema. La testina non si muoveva. La scheda logica non dava errori, e tutti i componenti della scheda da analogica, davano test positivo. Ma i segnali erano strani, e allora ho zoccolato la scheda analogica e ho sostituito tutte le logiche. Appena potrò rimetterò una alla volta le vecchie logiche per vedere quale creava il problema. Adesso le testine si muovono regolarmente, ma se tento di formattare mi dà "Bud disk". Per questo ultimo problema ci sto lavorando. Vi faccio sapere.
