Commodore VIC and C64 chips

Hi,

Of the vintage computers I own, four are faulty. One is an Osborne 1 the other three are my Commodore computers, the VIC-20, C64 and SX-64. The Osborne fault is undiagnosed but I’m fairly sure I’ve diagnosed the offending chips in the Commodore machines.

My next task is to get hold of these chips and this hence the purpose of this post. Where can one source these chips (and sockets). Can anyone point me to any international traders who sell these chips internationally?

An alternative might be just to wait for scruffy but working units to appear on the auction sites and swap the boards. It would probably be the cheapest option with the Vic20 and C64, but I can’t see that happening with the SX-64. Besides, it will be fun to try and change the chips.

Thanks

(P.S. there is some irony that every Commodore I own is now faulty! Is this payback for my less-than-enthusiastic response to them when they first came out!?) :)

What are the chips you are looking for? I have about 30,000 ICs that might contain one or more of the ones you are looking for.

In most cases, these big "Chip" companies want you to order them in quantities of 100 and they don't actually have them, but, there is a subsidary of a associated company that may have them or can get them. You know the drill.
