Does anyone have the original system software for a Compaq Portable III? In particular, I'm interested in what support, if any, there was for the LCD and its redefinable font. If you use PCDOS, codepage support almost works using DISPLAY.SYS and LCD.CPI:
But, being designed for the Convertible, it loads an 8x8 font, which looks half-sized in the 8x16 character cells on the Portable III. I've tried constructing an LCD.CPI with an 8x16 font, but it doesn't work -- a modified DISPLAY.SYS would be needed. That's why I'm wondering if the Portable III originally had a custom DISPLAY.SYS.
Code:
DEVICE=A:\DOS\DISPLAY.SYS CON=(LCD,437,1)
MODE CON CP PREPARE=((850) A:\DOS\LCD.CPI)
MODE CON CP SELECT=850
