So I’ve got a compuadd 810 that I recently picked up. This is a fairly late 8088 clone machine, with quite a few “nice things” such as built in video, HD floppy, and even IDE.

The IDE is obviously XTA and the drive isn’t too terribly happy at the moment. I’ll almost certainly put an XT-IDE card in it, or perhaps if I can find a nice 3.5” MFM or RLL drive I could use that.

Anyway, the reason for this post is that everything I’ve read about XTA suggests that only one drive can be on a cable. This system has a cable with two ports, and one has two wires swapped. Has anyone seen this before? Any clue as to why? Is this for a drive that needs wired a little differently? Or did they figure out a way to have two drives on one cable?

Sorry for the blurry photo. The forum limits are pretty restrictive.
