I have acquired one of these drives for the whole sum of 2$ because i was told it didn't work. Only thing wrong with it is the hub doesn't center properly if you slam the lever down. Anyway, i located a previous thread that wasn't too descriptive of this drive. It's Half height, beight, Made 18APR1984 is the stamp on it, it's direct drive, BUT has the flourescent speed marks on it. The power plug is cabled to the drive, meaning, one end is soldered to the pcb and there is about 5 inches of cable before the plug. The logic boards are White. AND it's got a eprom/CPU on it

the chip has the following markings

Intel
D8748H
X418371BS
21V PROGRAM
C-INTEL 1980

There is a Row of jumpers next to the chip with no labeling what-so-ever

I also tried formattating a disk in dos.

360kb ok BUT 720 this drive does something weird that none of my others do. When it gets to track 40, the heads stop moving, but it keeps going until track 80, I'm wondering if the row of jumpers by the programmable chip have something to do with that

And when i move the head by hand, the distance the carrier moves is half the distance between steps of what dos moved it.... So i'm thinking it may be 80 track, but it isn't set up for 80 track so...

i don't know if it's 80 or 40 track for sure as i can't find anything on google about it, cept 1 thread in this forum

Bitsavers also has nothing

The stepper motor says it steps at 1.875 degrees per step, isn't that was an 80 track steps at?
