So, I got my first terminal - a DEC VT-510 at a solid price. Sounded like it would be fine - only issue was a NVR error on boot. Figured that'd be simple enough - the manual doesn't mention anything about RTC batteries, but I should be able to just restore the defaults and get along fine, right? Well, I restored the defaults and tried to save the settings...

Well, maybe this one won't be so simple. I needed to go under the hood to make some vertical size adjustments anyways so I thought I'd look for a RTC battery in case it needs replacing, but I couldn't spot anything. Anyone have pointers for me? The terminal itself works fine, but having everything reset on every restart could be a bit of a core as time goes on.

As far as I know, it's not using battery backed ram, but an EEPROM.

Yeah, I've IDed the EEPROM and have replacements on the way from Mouser. Wish me luck! Also, good grief these plastics are frail.

Update: It was E7, the Atmel EEPROM (natch). Replacing it caused settings to commit just fine.
