I'll see if I can find him if you PM me with more info...
JUST IN
IBM PC Convertible. I tried to test it with the power supply but it didn't turn on. The ps stayed plugged in for a good 20 minutes, so it should have gotten worm but didn't and I didn't have time to use the battery charger. ...It's in the original box, big box, with the display adapter, power supply (possible shot), battery charger, printer cable, user manual that has two homemade disks in it, has two fdd's in front, looks great with very minor scratches around the power inlet, and various odds n ends I was planning on showing pictures of and I can't remember. Odds are it'll need a new battery, which the old one is present. The screen had no scratches on it at all, the whole thing could have been new. So the worst thing of all is the getter of this would have great looking parts.

Battery packs have been rebuilt before (see the page). I've got NIB 128Kb memory cards, the common slices as spares, but I'm not parting with my rare monitors for the Convertible.
I think you misunderstand, I'm not keeping this thing, it's up for sale soon for the shop. So if anyone else is interested (I'm sure they will be) it'll be for them. Monday I'm going in to test the battery and power supply and see what happens there. If it needs either I'll come up with them.
I didn't take the battery pack out, what kind of cells does it have inside? I have some old dustbuster batteries that I can use if that's what it calls for (work great in the Epson!). The charger is there, unopened, so if the battery is good at all then I'll see. (doh! Just checked the page, sub-C, dustbusters)
...pics will be up in a minute...
Great page on the 5140!
I'm just offering some information & possibility of follow-up items in case someone wants to pick it up from you...
Thrift stores here suck for electronics, thank god for ebay and freecycle.

Just webspace I loan out to a friend to document all that he can...
I've noticed that if I visit my local thrift shop on a regular basis, I can watch a perfectly good item go from having a box and all it's pieces to a single piece of worthless junk in the course of a week or two. It put me into such a funk the other day that this definition came to mind:
Thrift shop (noun): a machine which, over time, turns perfectly good stuff into absolute junk.
