Here in Italy in the years 1979-1981 some engineers created a computer based on the Z80 which was equipped with a pair of 8-inch drives.
Recently I got to test them.
To do this I connect them to my Ferguson Bigboard which has FDC 1771 and I try to read sectors of single density pre-recorded floppy disks.
While with other drives (for example REMEX RFD4000) I have no reading problems, with all BASF 6104 drives I always have a seek error.
I searched on internet for their manual but there is only the technical manual of the version of the new BASF 6104 model (the one in which the jumpers named JJ1 to JJ12 are present) while in the old BASF 6104 model the jumpers are called from B1 to B33 .
For similarity, comparing the way for drive select in the two models, I was able to no longer receive not ready, but I always receive this seek error by trying to test as many as 5 8-inch BASF 6104 drives.
I can't believe that all of them could be out of service togheter.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Enrico
