I own an Epson L2 laptop that did not boots up. When connected to the mains adapter the DC IN light turns on, but turning the switch to the ON position does nothing.

After dissasembling I found that some of the power supply board caps were damaged and I replaced the whole electrolitic caps. Once reassembled the laptop started the loading routine and while checking the RAM it suddendly stopeed and all the light were off again except the DC IN one. During the startup I heard the noise of the floppy disk and the hard disk turning but what seemed strange to me is that the rear fan turned at high speed. I guess that the fan only works if the internal temperature of the laptop becomes high but in this case was starting up.

I'll dissasembly again and disconnect the fan, floppy and hard disk and then try to turn it on to see what happens.

Have you found a similar problem with this computer ? I didn't found any diagrams or Service Manual so, I'm completely lost.

Thank you!

Well, as expected even disconnecting the floppy, the hard disk and the fan the computer refuses to boot. I'll try to repair the power supply board again... :(

BTW, which kind of connector is this ? The Conner CP-4024 has a 44 pin connector and specifications indicates that is an IDE HD, but the connector is smallest than the "normal" IDE one. I want to connect it to another computer and I don't found any adapter. Any solution ?

I think that IS IDE, it's just a proprietary connector used by that Conner drive and maybe a couple others from that company. I've seen it before around the 'net, one in a Sharp laptop from around the same time.
If you want to connect it to another laptop, your only option is going to be to build your own adapter.
For the PSU - The fan is probably normal. A lot of early luggable laptops like that just had a loud power supply fan that ran at all times. Dynamic fan control wasn't common. Not sure about the failure you're having, I'd just go and check whether you accidentally installed any caps backwards. And god is that a lot of caps!
