While at the SFGE / VCF SE event I picked up a VIC-20 at the arcade flea market with AC adapter, 2 joysticks, 5 cartridges, and cassette player for $30. Plastic bin included. It has a broken left arrow key which isn't a big deal to fix, but I bought it because it came with a Sega Star Trek game cartridge - one of my arcade grails.
One of the cartridge included was the 8K RAM cart so I wondered if it could be expanded. I opened it up and there were 4 empty spots on the board. I had a bunch of AM9128 SRAMs I harvested from some AT&T PBX PCBs I picked up from Computer Reset that I soldered to the board and voila! 19967 Bytes Free.
Somehow I thought it wasn't going to be that easy... but it was.
