Found a C16! Woot :)

Never having even physically seen one I found one mixed in with a batch of 64's and VIC-20's. No PSU but at least I have it in the collection now.

No PSU? When I was a kid I picked up about 50 Commodore 16 wall warts for only a few dollars for the box. They are still finding all sorts of uses, eg running the CP/M N8VEM. Australian plug though. 13V DC open circuit, about 9V under load, and the Radio Shack polarity, ie tip negative and ring positive.

That was all I needed to know. Now I can dig through my spare misc psus and find a match.

I had two C-16s at one point in history, but neither one of them worked

They were probably the oddest looking Commodore computers I'd ever seen.

I have a C16, looks like the old C64 but with a nicer color scheme. Mine came in a box with the PS, works fine but have yet to do anything with it other then test it and play with the demo cart.

The floppy drive port is the same but I think it takes a different tape drive and uses different joysticks (plus its not meant for games anyway but does have a nice basic).

The tape recorder is the same, just a different connector. There are adaptors in both ways around, I believe. Officially Commodore wanted to save space on the motherboard, I rather think they wanted to shut out backwards compatibility and third party manufacturers by changing the connectors. I believe the joystick ports also are electronically equivalent with the Atari de-facto standard, but can't be entirely sure.

The C16 and Plus/4 have remarkably many games, perhaps most on tape for being such a late and somewhat obsolete computer at its release.
