Over for over a decade i've had lightning strikes damage equipment with buried cat5, and I've gone through two damaged fiber optic cables that was in conduit. --There's got to be a better way.

I don't know the true performance of 100MB fast ethernet free-space optics which will cost me over $200 for a used set.
Nor do I understand modern wireless throughput of a "300MB" wireless bridge.

My ISP is 100mbps. I've always used gigabit equipment for future proofing, but I just can't get solutions to last long enough.

I would like to not bury another fiber cable, i can't chase it through the existing conduit.. re-burying fiber actually would be the cheapest solution with the equipment I have, but mounting a free-space optic or wireless bridge at both ends may not be any less effort than running another fiber cable.
Nothing lasts forever, but what would you choose to do?
My detached shop is about 100ft from the house.. there's bout 20-40 ft of cable chasing in each building.

Its been a while. If it was me I would rent the "Ditch Witch" for a few hours and run a channel 18"s deep from point A to point B (that just about code anywhere in these parts). 2" x 10' PVC runs about $6.50 or so. You could cram an extra run of fiber in there just to be on the safe side. Put weather heads on either end and you're back in business.

"This is me using my IBM PC 5150 over Ethernet TCP/IP network..." The link in your sig goes to a 404 page. Sorry to hear about your damaged equipment.
