  • From now on we will require that a prefix is set for any items in the sales area. We have created regions and locations for this. We also require that you select a delivery option before posting your listing. This will hopefully help us streamline the things that get listed for sales here and help local people better advertise their items, especially for local only sales. New sales rules are also coming, so stay tuned.

I have two Kaypro 2x units who would be classified on eBay as "for parts or repair". Neither function. On one unit, the A: drive will not boot with a system inserted. The second WILL boot but will not log onto the B: drive.

Otherwise they're in decent shape with only age scratches -- BUT NO DINGS.

The following is the status of the systems (to the best of my ability):

(1) Video works
(2) Power supply works
(3) FDD drives cleaned and tested and work intermittently.
(4) Keyboards BOTH work.

I would like to see that they find good home with a tech who would want to attempt a restoration or to cannibalize for parts. At one time they worked but, after several years on the shelf they cannot wake up and behave as described.

Both units are free to a good home but I am asking that I be reimbursed for my packing and shipping costs. I am in Southern California (zip code 92708) and have sent another similar unit across country via Fedex ground for $130.

If you are close by, you are welcome to contact me and stop by to pick the units up.

Will be happy to send pictures and answer questions.

I can be reached through this forum as well as my gmail address:

thewarplanner [at] gmail etc.

Thank you for your interest.

Really wish I could bite but I just have too many things in my project backlog already. Hope you find a good forever home instead of a flipper!

Flippers would be MORE than welcome. There are a lot of good parts in these machines and, if they can go to people wanting to revive other Kaypros, then that's fine with me.

I'm tempted... but I've already got about 25 Kaypro's... I know someone that might be interested, let me reach out to them.

Hah! Okay, maybe I'll just hope that if it's "flippers" they'll share the bits at reasonable prices. ;)

If it were local I'd probably overcome my scruples and come get them anyway; I'd swear to fix one and then I'd probably have a hard time resisting using the CRT monitor from the other one for some of my homebuild experiments...

Are you ever closer to the San Diego end of the country? My car available for weekend trips to LA is less than confidence inspiring after only putting 300 miles on it in 2-1/2 years.

I am in Fountain Valley which is next to Huntington Beach. To further help you zero in, I am off the Brookhurst exit of the 405 Freeway just above KSNA (John Wayne Airport). Go to Google Maps and look for Mile Square Park and I am just below that on Warner between Ward and Euclid.

..aw hell; map below. If this is within your radius of operations, you are welcome to come on up, load up your vehicle, and take the units away.

Please send me a pm at the thewarplanner address mentioned above.

Look forward to hearing from you. If you are coming, I'd like to get this taken care of this weekend and will make myself available ALL SATURDAY (until 4:30 PM) and most of Sunday (10:00 AM to 2:00 PM) for your visit. I have something to attend to on Sunday at 2:30 PM sharp!

Gentlemen:

THESE HAVE BEEN SPOKEN FOR.

I regret to say that one of my friends locally expressed an interest in my two Kaypros and will be taking them off my hands. I appreciate the inquiries and am sorry I was unable to consummate an arrangement witythat we could not get them to you. Thank you for your inquiries and offers.

As long as they go to someone that will do anything other than e-waste them! I swear I rescue e-waste machines like my wife rescues lost puppies.
