Fujitsu M2553 5 1/2" floppy drive red light stays on?

I can't get this drive to work. I know all of the cables are in correctly, and the light stays on even if it's not plugged in. Any ideas about what could be wrong? Thanks!

Double check the cables. 99% that the data cable is backwards on the drive or on the motherboard.

If the light is on when the power molex isn't connected, that would definitely be a problem.

What is system the drive is being installed in? Can get weird results with some of the later systems that don't support 5.25" drives or some systems that adjusted pinouts from the more typical specifications.
